“The Elf Did It!” – Hard Work, Great Times and Congrats!

Last week, TriAd released a brand new holiday video, “The Elf Did It!”, and it’s quickly become a crowd pleaser! We’re delighted that everyone is enjoying the story along with a good laugh or two! Now we’d like to take a few moments to look behind-the-scenes and extend some very well-deserved kudos. As most folks know, many hours and lots of work go into making a video. Enjoying the process from start to finish always makes it better, but there is no escaping the time and diligence required. And while everyone at the agency experienced a few moments in the [...]

Best Place to Work – EVER!

Business First recently named TriAd Marketing & Media as one of Columbus’ Best Places to Work! While that comes as no shock to me, I can tell you how extremely proud I am of this family. Many people have congratulated me on this accomplishment and I have to give 99.9% of the credit to everyone who works here. It’s a lot of fun working as a team to successfully solve a client’s communication issue, and we truly enjoy the company of everyone we work with.  All associates have contributed ideas that make our work days more fun and enjoyable. We [...]

Erwin Ephron – Media Giant

Erwin Ephron I’d like to take a few moments to honor the passing of a media giant.  His name was Erwin Ephron and, for more than forty years, he gave us some of the clearest thinking about media strategy that I have ever seen.  Mr. Ephron was an insightful researcher and a brilliant media theorist.  He had a gift for simplifying tangled media issues and presenting them in an understandable way, always with delightful wit and unassailable logic.  Just as important, he was able to bridge the gap between media theory and practical application in ways that made [...]

Instagram to introduce Advertising – Smart Idea!

There was big news from Instagram last week. The photo-sharing application announced in its company blog that users will soon be seeing an occasional ad in their Instagram feeds. The transition to advertising will be gradual because, as the blog acknowledges, “Seeing photos and videos from brands you don’t follow will be new, so we’ll start slow.” I’m thinking the introduction of advertising is a smart move. Instagram wants to build a sustainable business. And with more than150 million users, the potential audience is large enough for advertisers to take a serious look. Offering advertising opportunities is a smart business [...]

Website Strategies – Smart Home Page Design

We’re often asked about adding more “call-out” boxes on the home page with hyperlinks to inside pages.  “You know, like all the icons displayed on my smart phone!  One click gets you anywhere!”  Yes, a home page can be set up that way.  But it’s usually not a great idea.  Here’s why. 1)      Your website isn’t a mobile phone.  It is a different experience entirely.  We use our phones for communicating instantly and gathering information on the run – making a quick call, scanning e-mail, sending a text, sharing on Facebook, composing a Tweet or sharing an Instagram.  In comparison, [...]

TriAd launches New Website for OCIA

TriAd launched a brand new website last week for the Ohio Construction Information Association (OCIA).  Although we design and develop many websites, this one is noteworthy.  In addition to being visually attractive and easy to navigate, the new OCIA website is a storehouse loaded with timely information for anyone interested in Ohio’s transportation infrastructure. The OCIA has always been a reference source for municipalities, legislators, the news media, and Ohio citizens – virtually anyone concerned about maintaining and improving our highways, roads and bridges.  Every page of the new website supports that mission.  Visitors will find basic facts about the [...]

TriAd Video Vault #7

Feeling down? Well this edition of the TriAd Video Vault might help! In this 1978 public service announcement, famed actor Robert Alda - the late father of actor Alan Alda - talks about the benefits of getting help when you are not mentally feeling up to par. TriAd produced this PSA for the now-inappropriately titled, 'Franklin County Mental Health and Retardation Board', and followed the board's theme, “Mental Health Doesn’t Come with an Owner’s Manual'. We worked with the board for several years developing many types of marketing materials to communicate their messages. And although the board is now titled, [...]

A Tribute To Clark Street (1931-2013)

We are saddened to report the passing of a longtime TriAd friend and partner, C. Clark Street, past President and Executive Director of the Ohio Contractors Association. Clark leaves behind a legacy of leadership, integrity, steadfastness and friendship that is not only felt by all of us here at TriAd, but also by the many highway and infrastructure contractors in Ohio. Clark was a fair and true leader, and was beloved by so many in our industry. To say he will be missed is an understatement. In 2007, we produced a video celebrating Clark's retirement from OCA. Please take a [...]
