TriAd Sizzles at GrillMasters’ Challenge

TriAd was once again honored to participate in the annual GrillMasters’ Challenge in Upper Arlington, OH. Run by esteemed Commissioner Richard Keeler, the GMC was hot with competition this year, and TriAd spared no expense or culinary skills in creating the tastiest of grilled perfections! On call were TriAd chefs Bob Dawson, Mike Shaw, and their respective wives Kerrie and Terri (rhymes!). Using the official TriAd Grill – a Weber One Touch Silver – the Team cooked up some delicious ‘Bacon Bourbon Burgers’, complete with Jim Beam and brown sugar, as well as spicy pepper jack cheese and crispy bacon. They also grilled up a side of seasoned zucchini and squash medallions, to appear fancy-schmancy and impress the distinguished panel of judges. Although Team TriAd did not take home a trophy, our burger was chosen as the ‘People’s Choice’ by Commissioner Keeler, and the dozens of spectators who demanded a sample of our sensational sammich. TriAd also showed off its artistic skills by designing the official GMC ‘Freestyle Open’ logo. Our own Eric Brown freehanded the graffiti logo, and it was featured on the official event t-shirts.

We look forward to participating in the GrillMasters’ Challenge in 2014! In the meantime, check out the photos and our delicious recipe. This summer, treat your family AND your grill to Team TriAd’s Bacon Bourbon Burgers! Happy grilling…

Team TriAd’s Bacon Bourbon Burgers

Prep Time: 15 m | Cook Time: 25 m | Makes: 2 burgers

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound ground chuck
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons steak seasoning (such as Montreal Steak Seasoning®)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 slices cooked bacon, cut into halves
  • 2 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 2 hamburger buns, split

Directions:

Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate.

Mix ground beef, bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, steak seasoning, and garlic salt in a bowl; divide and shape into 2 patties.

Cook on the preheated grill for about 5 minutes; turn, top each burger with bacon and cheese, and continue cooking until the burgers are cooked to your desired degree of doneness, about 5 minutes more for well done. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 160 degrees F. Serve on split buns.
