For the Love of Adobe
It’s no secret that we love the Adobe Creative Suite here at TriAd. For us, it is the absolute best way to get things done quickly and effectively for our clients. This love affair began quite a while ago. I remember it like it was yesterday…
It was crisp October morning in 1990. Birds were chirping, autumn leaves offered brilliant shades of orange and red, and the awesome program that is Photoshop 1.0 had been presented to the design world in all its glory. That’s probably not at all how it really happened, but in my head that’s what I see.
Actually it all began a few years earlier at the University of Michigan. A PhD student named Thomas Knoll was trying to figure out a way to display grayscale images on a monochrome display. What he developed was called Display. After catching the attention of his brother who was then working at a little studio called Industrial Light and Magic (STAR WARS!!!), they began collaborating, eventually changing the name to ImagePro and then finalizing the name Photoshop. Much has happened since then. Photoshop itself has grown up and other creative programs such as Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Fireworks have joined the mix. In 2003 they joined forces and became the mighty Adobe Creative Suite, much like the Avengers of the Marvel universe, except in the creative industry.
It’s a far cry from the old days of press type, proportion wheels, and the beloved collections of many-colored felt tip markers. There was that awkward stage when computer technology was in it’s infancy and stumbling around, not to mention being way more expensive and far less capable. All were loved and adored in their time and, without them, Adobe might not have paved the way for better things.
The tools offered in the various programs within the Adobe creative bundle are integral parts of our daily designing lives, almost to the point where they are part of the TriAd family. They allow us to bring marketing ideas and concepts to life, whether through printed materials, publications or the web. In short, they enable us to do the best work possible, work that we are proud to offer our clients. And for that we must give a huge hug and thanks to the Adobe Creative Suite.
