Why does building a list matter?
Email lists give you direct contact with your customer. You can reach them with any big announcements, important news or just to keep in touch. Your email list gives you the opportunity to scale your relationship with your customers. You can directly engage with them and share insights on what is going on with your company and industry.
The first question you should ask yourself is, “what problems can I solve for my audience?”, you want to make sure you are solving a problem for your audience. If you are prefacing your customers with, “Sign Up Now to Stay in Touch”, that is not very compelling for them. Your consumers want to make sure they are getting something out of signing up for your email communications.
- Offer something. Draw them in with a bonus or something of value for them to want to sign-up. For example, if you can offer 10% off their next purchase or something they can directly get a reward from.
- You want a clear call-to-action. Focus on getting customers to sign up for the email list and nothing else.
- Make it known what they have to do to sign up, you don’t want it buried in your site.
- Remind your audience that they are getting something of value.
