TriAd Video Vault #8 – A Visit to Lane Avenue Center, 1978
Spring has sprung, and it’s time to search for some bloomin’ bargains! In this edition of the TriAd Video Vault, we take a look at a 1978 TV spot for Columbus, Ohio’s, ‘Lane Avenue Center’ – a retail haven that’s still going strong today! In this spot, we are enticed with many of the luxuries 1978 had to offer: flower jewelry, a sweet turntable/cassette stereo, plaid dress shirts, and a state-of-the-art computer terminal device. TriAd produced this commercial AND wrote the catchy ‘Lane Avenue’ jingle. And while today’s ‘Lane Avenue Center’ is now called, ‘The Shops on Lane Avenue’, it’s still a great place to get dry goods and the occasional bagel. An interesting side note: the production music used in the ‘Lane Avenue Center’ spot was also used in movie theaters across the U.S. It was part of the now-defunct ‘General Cinema’s’ 1975 policy trailer. You can check it out here:
